Lancaster County
The lower Neck on the Rappahannock. Kilmarnock, Irvington, and White Stone form the region's retail and dining hub, with deepwater creeks running to the river and the bay.
Northumberland County
The county at the bay-front tip of the Neck, with Heathsville as its seat. Reedville's menhaden fleet still works the Chesapeake, and the Great Wicomico, Coan, and Yeocomico rivers carve the shoreline into deepwater necks.
Richmond County
The upper-Rappahannock county, not the city. Warsaw is the county seat and home to a Rappahannock Community College campus, with grain farmland and river frontage around it.
Westmoreland County
The Potomac-side county of the upper Neck. Colonial Beach and Montross are its towns, and George Washington Birthplace National Monument, Stratford Hall, and Westmoreland State Park line its Potomac shore.
